Pay Attention, Boost Your Oral Health With These Foods

Below is a list foods that will give your teeth and gums the required nutrients to stay strong and healthy.

1. Water

Here is a reason you should drink more water daily. Water helps to rinse off food particles in your mouth and helps keep your saliva level high in defense against tooth decay. Saliva contains 95 per cent of water and when the saliva level is low, bacteria easily feeds of the enamel, causing tooth holes.

Hence, to avoid cavity, keep yourself hydrated. You can also replace sugary drinks with water to prevent cavity.

2. Milk

Another diary product you should consume to preserve teeth and keep your gums in good shape is milk. Milk is highly-rich in calcium which provides your teeth and jaw bones with nutrients needed to stay strong and healthy.
Nutritionists recommend a glass of milk should at least be consumed daily for strong bones and teeth.

3. Oranges

These are citrus fruits containing essential nutrient needed for healthy gums. Oranges are rich in Vitamin C, which helps to strengthen blood vessels, connective tissue and prevents gum inflammation.

Oranges should however be taken in proportion because of its acidity level. To reduce the impact of its acidity level, rinse your mouth with water after taking an orange or wait at least half an hour before brushing your teeth.

4. Carrots

Carrots are vegetables with high fibre that requires prolonged chewing for digestion. This act stimulates saliva production which serves as a another way of cleaning the teeth and gum.

It also disrupts bacteria-filled plague from building up around your teeth while the chewing is ongoing.

5. Cheese

Cheese is a good source of calcium that guarantees your oral health. It contains minerals and protein that helps rebuild the enamel. It also helps to neutralize acids found in food that may be a threat to your tooth enamel– lowering the risks of tooth decay.
